If you have a tiny yard or very limited storage space then it’s probably best to buy a small battery powered lawn mower over a normal sized version. For starters the smallest mowers are light, store in small spaces, and don’t require gas cans or oil which makes them easy to keep in a storage shed, garage, or even in an inside closet!
In my extended yard I use large battery powered mowers to cover more ground but in the yard space closest to my house I have kids jungle gyms, swing sets, a variety of kids toys, trampolines, as well as an abundance of small spaces and planter beds all which make these small mowers easier and more attractive for me to use.
As such, I decided to pick up a few of the smallest battery powered mowers on the market this year and try them out. They are generally small enough for my bigger kids to use although they are definitely not marketed as kid sized mowers. They are very light so just about anyone could push them around the yard, any large kid to small statured senior citizen.
Before I get to the list I want to say something generally. There are a ton of cordless electric mowers in the 17-inch range and there’s a bunch labeled as 16-inch, as you get smaller than that your options quickly shrink.
For the purpose of this article I’ll be only looking at the smallest machines on the market:

Let’s look at my experiences with each unit.
1. WORX 14″ Dual 20V Push Mower
I started out by buying the 14-inch WORX battery mower. It’s a dual 20-Volt machine that has a dedicated Eco mode and Turbo mode.
